THE BEST OF (ESSENTIAL ORIGINAL MASTERS) 25 CLASSICS
“Nineteen of the 25 tracks |

“Nineteen of the 25 tracks on this Heritage Collection sampler were produced by Lee Sutton (also a visionary who helped Uncle Jim capture the music). Those cuts were compiled from six previously released Hylo Brown LPs (RR-168, 176, 183, 187, 200, and 204).The remaining six tracks are from the Rural Rhythm master library and never before released. All of the material was recorded circa 1966-68, and all was consistently high quality. It’s also been remastered by Steve Hoffman for CD. Copious liner notes are provided by country music historian Colin Escott”.

| 40 CLASSICS (OLD TIME MOUNTAIN MUSIC) ***FIRST 2 CLASSIC ALBUMS RECORDED FOR RURAL RHYTHM RECORDS*** Rural Rhythm’s 40 Classics: Old Time |

Rural Rhythm’s 40 Classics: Old Time Mountain Music is really a “two-fer” collecting J.E. Mainer & His Mountaineers’ 1967 albums Old Time Mountain Music and More Old Time Mountain Music. Fiddler Mainer and his Mountaineers were one of the more popular string bands of the 1930s, blending classic old-time country and gospel-tinged bluegrass into an Appalachian stew that the music community ate up like hotcakes. The recordings featured here are not from the group’s heydays, but the improved late-’60s production makes for a smoother listen, bringing to mind early recordings by late-era Bill Monroe.
